Personality & Behavior:
Lantern could be described as social and very skittish. They enjoy simply being around other people, even strangers, and will begin to panic if they believe they will be stuck alone for a long period of time. They make efforts to be friendly and outgoing, but will often end up acting awkwardly in any intimidating situation or to any intimidating people. They are not defiant or argumentative, and are likely to comply even to people below them in the ranks. Lantern is very easily frightened, especially by gore, violence, and loud noises, and will flee upon getting spooked. Their pain tolerance is low.
Story:
Lantern is not a shadowkin, rather a forest sprite. They used to inhabit a zone deep, deep within an ancient forest, and were only known as an old myth to the few villages that were closest to them. The folklore goes that they would guide lost travelers at night through their forest with a winding trail of lanterns, before slowly disappearing as the sky begins to lighten in the morning. Some say they were helpful, some say they were malicious - but they did try to keep the travelers for as long as possible, as visits from other people were few and far between.
Eventually, all of the towns remotely near their forest all became abandoned, and they were truly forgotten. One day, they discovered that they could morph into a physical, living creature, at the permanent cost of all of their magic. Having been without visitors for years and years, they made the decision and tried to become what they wanted to look like in their head. The first few weeks were an overstimulating, terrifying mess for them - but they got used to it.
Lantern is still incredibly frightened by the ability to die, though, having never had it until recently.
(More detailed) appearance:
Dark brown fur with a fluffy tail. Their eyes glow in the dark like a lantern. The fur around their ears is thinner, and it’s warm to the touch there. They have a weak-looking build.
